SWELLRADAR is requesting a verified marine run for Kabune.
Spot intelligence.
Kabune is the offshore reef in front of Zushi Marina, separate from Osaki, Tamaishi and Isshiki Beach. The Japanese guide explicitly excludes beginners and intermediates. Easier takeoffs in some conditions and longboard use do not remove that Advanced gate. The inherited model band does not establish that the reef is breaking. Inspect the swell, return paddle and current local access; no route over coastal structures is prescribed.

Reviewed 24 Oct 2026 · not observation-validated
Published sources reviewed by SWELLRADAR, not validation against measured breaking waves. This follow-up revisits research holds without replacing the original twenty wave-36 profiles. Swell and wind references remain qualitative, not surveyed optima. The inherited 0.6–3.0 m offshore-model band remains unchanged and unvalidated: not a local surf limit, activation threshold, safe learner range or wave-face conversion. Approximate map pins are not surveyed takeoffs. Offshore samples do not resolve reef depth, entry routes or provider-snapped cells. Current conditions, notices and personal ability require a local check. Surfers' Ocean's exact Kabune section establishes rock reef, Advanced-and-above eligibility, long paddle and SSW swell. Its approximate embedded marker is about 0.17 km from the retained map pin, not a surveyed takeoff. Surfing In Japan independently describes the reef, long right/short left and competent-surfer requirement. Its published swell sector contains SSW; no continuous acceptance window, island-attenuation factor or height conversion is inferred. Its Kabune-specific N wind reference is encoded explicitly, not borrowed from Osaki's NNE wind or derived opposite the swell. Its low/incoming tide wording has not been independently established as a reproducible local optimum: no tide phase/motion reward, preferred window or adaptive reef fallback is added. The dated 2007 first-person session corroborates the named right reef and distinguishes adjacent breaks; its onshore session is not an ideal-wind rule, current crowd report or approved tetrapod entry. Historical water-quality scores, contests and guide size examples are not adopted as present safety, access or activation guarantees. The explicit six-kilometre SSW sea request is a geometric model-sampling choice, not measured reef bathymetry.
- Surfers' Ocean · exact Kabune section, Zushi/Hayama guide
Original Kabune-specific rock reef, Advanced-and-above warning, demanding paddle, SSW swell and separate approximate map; regional and Osaki-specific wind/tide information is not transferred
- Surfing In Japan · original Kabune guide
Independent named reef, long right/short left, marina setting, changing peak, competence warning, SSW-containing swell sector and explicit N wind; one-guide low/incoming tide is not a validated optimum
- Naminoru Life · original Kabune surf diary, 19 August 2007
First-person session distinguishes Kabune from Osaki/Tamaishi and describes a powerful long-riding right reef; historical entry, crowd and onshore conditions are not current access or ideal-wind evidence

Character
01Kabune is defined by long right · shorter left also reported over rock reef · exact depth unverified. The shape can change with swell angle, period and the active section, so the live score should always be paired with a visual check from shore.
Best setup
02SSW · qualitative reef reference swell, n · published qualitative reference and local reef response · unverified form the profile baseline. SWELLRADAR retains 0.6–3.0 m as an offshore-model ranking band, not a measured local surf limit or a breaking-wave prediction.
Lineup read
03This is an advanced profile: positioning, entry and exit should be assessed before committing. Pay particular attention to rock-reef impacts, long demanding offshore paddle, shifting powerful peaks and wide sets. Local signs and advice always take priority.
