SWELLRADAR is requesting a verified marine run for Katase Eastside Beach.
Spot intelligence.
Katase Higashihama is east of the Enoshima bridge, not Nishihama. Small-wave learning and longboard/SUP use are documented. Intermediate is SWELLRADAR's conservative minimum for independent recommendations across the unsplit beach and unvalidated model band, not a claim that beginners cannot take locally selected lessons. Respect launch lanes, lesson groups and current posted zones; the forecast confirms neither access nor supervision.

Reviewed 23 Oct 2026 · not observation-validated
Published sources reviewed by SWELLRADAR, not validation against measured breaking waves. Swell-from and wind-from references are independent qualitative ranking inputs, not surveyed optima or complete acceptance windows. The inherited generic 0.6–3.0 m offshore-model band remains unchanged and unvalidated: it is not a measured local working range, safe learner limit or wave-face conversion. The original approximate map pin is retained, not a surveyed takeoff or approved entry. An explicit offshore request does not resolve island shelter, sandbanks, harbour structures or local currents. Namiaru's original Japanese guide separates S–SE swell, southerly/SW wind-generated waves with island shelter, and independently stated NW clean-face wind. SSE/157.5° is a coarse centre of the S–SE reference, not a measured optimum; SW wave generation is not coded as clean offshore wind or a storm refuge. BLADES' 2019 field guide independently corroborates the small bay east of Enoshima and soft small-wave SUP/longboard context; it is not an all-board, all-size ability certificate. Namiaru's explicitly historical 2024 bathing paragraph is not current regulation despite the page's 2026 update. Fujisawa's official 2026 bathing notice provides the current-season reference; it is not transferred into a perpetual surf closure, future-year calendar, live patrol promise or present access clearance. No preferred tide, handedness, surveyed depth, safe learner range or inside-bay wave-height factor is established.
- Namiaru · original Katase Higashihama point guide
Sand beach east of the bridge, S–SE swell, independent NW clean-face wind, island shelter, windsurf launch and selected small-wave learning; the 2024 bathing paragraph is historical, not a current rule
- BLADES · original SUP field guide, Katase Higashihama section
Original 2019 field guide identifies the small bay east of Enoshima and soft small-wave SUP/longboard use; not current operating services, tide quality or unrestricted beginner suitability
- Fujisawa City Tourism Association · official 2026 bathing notice
Official current-year beach-season notice links the 2026 city rules; use current posted zones and instructions, not the surf guide's 2024 hours or an automatic future-year closure

Character
01Katase Eastside Beach is defined by soft small-wave peaks · variable banks over sand banks · island and breakwater shelter. The shape can change with swell angle, period and the active section, so the live score should always be paired with a visual check from shore.
Best setup
02S–SE · qualitative beach reference swell, nw · qualitative guide reference and bank-specific · check locally form the profile baseline. SWELLRADAR retains 0.6–3.0 m as an offshore-model ranking band, not a measured local surf limit or a breaking-wave prediction.
Lineup read
03Choose a peak that matches your experience and reassess it as tide and crowd change. Pay particular attention to shared windsurf launch, lesson groups and other water users, seasonal swimming-area controls. Local signs and advice always take priority.
