Spot intelligence.

Barranquito is the mixed sand-and-stone/jetty setup below Barranco, not an unobstructed learner sand beach. Olas Perú's own technical guide describes a soft, well-shaped left and basic-to-intermediate teaching context. Intermediate is a conservative independent-recommendation gate across the unsplit marker and unvalidated model band, not a denial of selected supervised beginner lessons. Check the actual peak, rocks, structures and current water advisories rather than assuming a school description guarantees today's access or conditions.

Reviewed 23 Oct 2026 · not observation-validated

Published sources reviewed by SWELLRADAR, not validation against measured breaking waves. Swell-from and wind-from inputs are independent qualitative references, not surveyed optima or complete acceptance windows. All five inherited 0.6–3.0 m offshore-model ranking bands remain unchanged and unvalidated: they are not measured local working ranges, safe learner limits or wave-face conversions. Approximate original place markers are retained, not surveyed takeoffs or approved entries. Explicit sea requests and provider snapping do not resolve local sandbars, reefs, current channels, jetty reflection or wave faces. Olas Perú's original Barranquito technical sheet specifies sand/stones, a left, SW swell, calm wind and basic-to-intermediate use. Its low-water preference and 1–1.5 m wording apply to its teaching/peak context and are not transferred into a generic model band or whole-marker tide optimum. The original Surf-Forecast guide independently reports SW swell, ENE wind, better lefts with a right, mixed reef/jetty structure and rock/man-made/pollution cautions. Calm conditions and a directional clean-wind reference are not competing optimum directions; ENE is retained as qualitative, not a measured survey. All-stage surfability in that guide does not prove equal tide quality or override section-dependent low-water advice: tide scoring stays unverified with no phase/motion bonus, preferred window or adaptive fallback. No current pollution alert, lifeguard staffing, booking, surveyed water depth or safe learner range is inferred.

  • Olas Perú · original Playa Barranquito technical guide

Local school's own guide specifies sand/stones, lefts, SW swell, calm wind and basic-to-intermediate context; its low-tide and numeric size advice is not a whole-marker scoring or safety calibration

  • Surf-Forecast · original Barranquito guide

Original mixed reef/jetty guide independently reports SW swell, ENE wind, better lefts plus rights, all-stage surfability and rock/man-made/pollution cautions; not current hazards or patrol observations

Character

01

Playa Barranquito is defined by left-dominant peaks · jetty and rock sections over sand and stones · reef/jetty structure. The shape can change with swell angle, period and the active section, so the live score should always be paired with a visual check from shore.

Best setup

02

SW · qualitative jetty reference swell, ene · qualitative guide reference and section-specific · check locally form the profile baseline. SWELLRADAR retains 0.6–3.0 m as an offshore-model ranking band, not a measured local surf limit or a breaking-wave prediction.

Lineup read

03

Choose a peak that matches your experience and reassess it as tide and crowd change. Pay particular attention to rocks and jetty structure, crowded mixed-ability lineup, man-made obstructions and water-quality uncertainty. Local signs and advice always take priority.
