Spot intelligence.

La Punta represents Los Caracas' rock-bottom point, not a generic sand beach or Punta de Las Caracas' approximate forecast pin to the west. Surfmarket explicitly recommends experienced Intermediate surfers on rock waves and directs beginners elsewhere. Respect the existing lineup and assess the entry and actual point section locally.

Reviewed 23 Oct 2026 · not observation-validated

Published sources reviewed by SWELLRADAR, not validation against measured breaking waves. Swell-from references are qualitative ranking inputs, not surveyed optima or complete acceptance windows. The inherited generic 0.6–3.0 m offshore-model band remains unchanged and unvalidated: not a measured local working range, safe learner range or wave-face conversion. Original approximate map pins and location references remain. Explicit sea requests do not survey takeoffs, bottom clearance, sandbars, currents, entry routes or provider-snapped cells. Surfmarket's original Los Caracas guide specifies N/NE swell, independent S/SE/E wind references, a longer right and shorter left, rock bottom and an explicit Intermediate-not-beginner qualification. NNE is the coarse centre of the published swell sector, and S is an independently reported wind reference. Surf-Forecast corroborates NNE swell, S wind and partial east-wind shelter, but its rounded location is roughly six kilometres west of this marker; its pin is not used to relocate the point or select a marine cell. Shelter is not a guarantee for every wind strength. The full tide listing establishes no preferred phase, movement or safe rock clearance, so tide scoring stays unverified with no bonuses or adaptive fallback. Historical descriptions do not verify present access, currents, crowd or rescue staffing.

Character

01

Playa La Punta is defined by right point · a shorter left is also reported over rock bottom · point sections. The shape can change with swell angle, period and the active section, so the live score should always be paired with a visual check from shore.

Best setup

02

N–NE · qualitative point reference swell, s · qualitative guide reference and point response · unverified form the profile baseline. SWELLRADAR retains 0.6–3.0 m as an offshore-model ranking band, not a measured local surf limit or a breaking-wave prediction.

Lineup read

03

Choose a peak that matches your experience and reassess it as tide and crowd change. Pay particular attention to rocks and uneven entry, crowded main point, stronger surf on larger swells. Local signs and advice always take priority.
