Spot intelligence.

This is Los Cocos at Caraballeda, La Guaira, not the namesake in Sucre or Falcón. The beach has multiple changing peaks. Intermediate is a conservative independent-recommendation minimum across this unsplit marker and unvalidated model band; teaching activity does not make every peak suitable for a learner. Check current restrictions and shore conditions locally.

Reviewed 23 Oct 2026 · not observation-validated

Published sources reviewed by SWELLRADAR, not validation against measured breaking waves. Swell-from references are qualitative ranking inputs, not surveyed optima or complete acceptance windows. The inherited generic 0.6–3.0 m offshore-model band remains unchanged and unvalidated: not a measured local working range, safe learner range or wave-face conversion. Original approximate map pins and location references remain. Explicit sea requests do not survey takeoffs, bottom clearance, sandbars, currents, entry routes or provider-snapped cells. Surfmarket's original Caraballeda listing reports sand, left/right peaks, N/NE swell and independently stated S wind; NNE/22.5° is a coarse centre of that exposure sector. Its all-levels label explicitly qualifies difficulty by size and warns beginners about currents and crowded peaks. The original January 2023 La Verdad de Vargas interview with municipal tourism director David González identifies Los Cocos as hazardous for bathing and then reserved for sport; this historical statement is not a verified current access rule, patrol guarantee or a surf-ability certificate. The guide was readable in the search index while a direct fetch failed. Listing all tide stages does not establish a preferred phase, equal quality or safe depth: tide remains unverified without bonuses or adaptive fallback.

Character

01

Playa Los Cocos is defined by lefts and rights · changing beach peaks over sand banks · unsplit beach marker. The shape can change with swell angle, period and the active section, so the live score should always be paired with a visual check from shore.

Best setup

02

N–NE · qualitative beach reference swell, s · qualitative guide reference and bank-specific · check locally form the profile baseline. SWELLRADAR retains 0.6–3.0 m as an offshore-model ranking band, not a measured local surf limit or a breaking-wave prediction.

Lineup read

03

Choose a peak that matches your experience and reassess it as tide and crowd change. Pay particular attention to size-dependent currents, crowded mixed-ability peaks, changing banks and close surf traffic. Local signs and advice always take priority.
