Spot intelligence.

Pantaleta's retained beach marker is not a survey of each nearby Pelúa or El Fido takeoff. Published first-hand accounts describe changing central banks and substantial post-1999 flood changes. Intermediate is a conservative minimum for independent recommendations, not a claim that the present bank is rideable or a safe lesson range. Recheck the shorebreak, bank shape and exit locally.

Profile sources & limits

Reviewed 23 Oct 2026 · not observation-validated

Published sources reviewed by SWELLRADAR, not validation against measured breaking waves. Swell-from references are qualitative ranking inputs, not surveyed optima or complete acceptance windows. The inherited generic 0.6–3.0 m offshore-model band remains unchanged and unvalidated: not a measured local working range, safe learner range or wave-face conversion. Original approximate map pins and location references remain. Explicit sea requests do not survey takeoffs, bottom clearance, sandbars, currents, entry routes or provider-snapped cells. Guillermo Riascos' original WannaSurf listing describes sandy left/right banks, fast powerful surf and N/NW/NE swell. A dated 2008 first-person comment warns that the 1999 floods left steep beach and near-sand breaking surf; it is evidence of historical instability, not a present-condition observation. Surf-Forecast's own guide gives NNE swell, S wind and a beach/reef classification; its separate participant account distinguishes central banks from Pelúa and El Fido. The original listing's northerly wind sector differs from that S reference, so direction scoring and opposite-swell fallback remain disabled. Jerika Valera's 2013/2014 Venelogía account independently locates the sandy surf beach and strong surf, not its underwater bottom or today's services. All-stage surf wording establishes no consistent preferred phase, safe depth or equal quality. Tide remains unverified without bonuses or adaptive fallback; nearby sections are not independent swell systems.

Character

01

Playa Pantaleta is defined by lefts and rights · changing central banks over sand banks · rock-influenced margins. The shape can change with swell angle, period and the active section, so the live score should always be paired with a visual check from shore.

Best setup

02

NNE · qualitative bank reference swell, light wind · direction unresolved and morphology-dependent · check locally form the profile baseline. SWELLRADAR retains 0.6–3.0 m as an offshore-model ranking band, not a measured local surf limit or a breaking-wave prediction.

Lineup read

03

Choose a peak that matches your experience and reassess it as tide and crowd change. Pay particular attention to steep shorebreak and shifting banks, rock and urchin sections near the margins, crowded mixed-use beach. Local signs and advice always take priority.
