Spot intelligence.

This is Pato at Nizao, not Los Patos in Barahona or an unlocated namesake. The federation describes all-level use, but that is not a safe range across every offshore forecast. Intermediate is the conservative independent-recommendation minimum for the unsplit rocky point; learners should arrange a locally selected supervised session.

Reviewed 23 Oct 2026 · not observation-validated

Published-source review, not validation against measured breaking waves. Qualitative compass references are ranking inputs, not surveyed optima or complete acceptance windows. The inherited 0.6–3.0 m offshore-model band remains unvalidated: not a local surf limit, safe learner range or wave-face conversion. Existing approximate pins are retained. Explicit sea requests do not survey takeoffs, depth, currents, access or provider-snapped cells. The original Patho atlas gives matching approximate coordinates, Nizao access, E/SE swell, N wind and a rock/sand left point. SE is one listed reference, not an optimum or a continuous acceptance sector. Meantime5's original 2011 contribution corroborates pebbles, hollow waves and the occasional short right. FEDOSURF independently identifies Nizao's Pato, pebbles, predominantly left waves and all-level use. Its broad grade does not validate the inherited model band. The separately unlocated WannaSurf Patos record gives different swell guidance and is not merged. Full Patho text was read in the normal browser after direct fetch failed. The federation table is indexed-original evidence only: direct fetch returned502 and the browser certificate warning was not bypassed. Atlas low/mid and falling-tide wording is not independently validated, so no tide bonus, preferred window or adaptive fallback is added. Historic access accounts are not current permission, patrol or water-quality clearance.

Character

01

Pato Beach is defined by predominantly left · occasional short right reported over pebbles and flat rock with sand. The shape can change with swell angle, period and the active section, so the live score should always be paired with a visual check from shore.

Best setup

02

SE · one published E/SE reference swell, n · qualitative original guide reference and local response · unverified form the profile baseline. SWELLRADAR retains 0.6–3.0 m as an offshore-model ranking band, not a measured local surf limit or a breaking-wave prediction.

Lineup read

03

Choose a peak that matches your experience and reassess it as tide and crowd change. Pay particular attention to rock and pebble impacts, hollow multisection waves, remote shoreline access. Local signs and advice always take priority.
