SWELLRADAR is requesting a verified marine run for Praia de Intermares.
Spot intelligence.
Intermares is in Cabedelo, Paraíba, not Rio Grande do Norte or the neighbouring Bessa beach. This is an approximate beach marker, not one fixed takeoff. Intermediate is a conservative minimum for independent recommendations: the historical mentored surf project does not establish blanket beginner suitability or current lesson availability. Check the active peak and water conditions, respect locally marked turtle nests and leave no litter or line behind.

Reviewed 23 Oct 2026 · not observation-validated
Published sources reviewed by SWELLRADAR, not validation against measured breaking waves. Swell-from and wind-from bearings are independent qualitative ranking references, not surveyed optima. The inherited generic 0.6–3.0 m offshore-model bands remain unchanged: they are not measured local surf limits, safe learner ranges or wave-face conversions. Approximate map pins are place markers, not surveyed takeoffs or approved entry routes. Explicit sea requests sample offshore models; banks, depth, currents, local notices and personal ability still require a local check. The original surf guide consistently supplies ESE swell and an independent WNW wind reference, but mislabels the state; the original Intermares/Bessa research and Guajiru account establish Cabedelo, Paraíba. These axes remain qualitative, not a complete swell acceptance window or measured wind optimum. The guide establishes no preferred tide phase: no phase/motion bonus, preferred windows or adaptive beach fallback is added. Mascarenhas and colleagues' 2008 paper reports debris sampled in 2006, not present-day pollution, bacterial water quality or current nesting positions. Its tidal deposition observations are not a surf-quality tide rule. The 2010 first-person Guajiru report supplies historical teaching/conservation context, not an operating school or venue listing. Sources do not survey current banks, channels, safe entry, patrol coverage or breaking-wave height; the hazard list is not a complete safety assessment.
- Surf-Forecast · Praia de Intermares original guide
Beach-break lefts/rights, ESE swell, independent WNW wind, cross-shore wind exposure and busy surf; its incorrect state label is corrected using the original local research
- Mascarenhas et al. · original Intermares/Bessa debris research (2008)
Original study, pages 221–224: Intermares in Cabedelo, Paraíba; sandy nesting coast and debris/fishing-line context from 2006 sampling, not current water-quality or surf-height validation
- Waves · Rita Mascarenhas' first-person Guajiru account (2010)
Original participant account of Intermares in Cabedelo, supervised youth surfing and turtle conservation; historical activity, not confirmation of current services or independent measurement of wind/tide mechanics

Character
01Praia de Intermares is defined by lefts and rights · variable beach peaks over sand beach banks · local depth unverified. The shape can change with swell angle, period and the active section, so the live score should always be paired with a visual check from shore.
Best setup
02ESE · qualitative beach reference swell, wnw · qualitative guide reference and bank-specific · check locally form the profile baseline. SWELLRADAR retains 0.6–3.0 m as an offshore-model ranking band, not a measured local surf limit or a breaking-wave prediction.
Lineup read
03Choose a peak that matches your experience and reassess it as tide and crowd change. Pay particular attention to crowded takeoffs, cross-shore wind exposure, check shore for debris and fishing line. Local signs and advice always take priority.
