Spot intelligence.

Elbow Ledge is a specialist offshore big-wave setting, not a shore-access learner reef. Independent recommendations stay Expert only. That choice does not certify big-wave training, suitable equipment, transport or rescue readiness. The generic offshore band does not establish activation. Arrange specialist local assessment; no current rescue service or access entitlement is promised.

Reviewed 23 Oct 2026 · not observation-validated

Published-source review, not validation against measured breaking waves. Qualitative compass references are ranking inputs, not surveyed optima or complete acceptance windows. The inherited 0.6–3.0 m offshore-model band remains unvalidated: not a local surf limit, safe learner range or wave-face conversion. Existing approximate pins are retained. Explicit sea requests do not survey takeoffs, depth, currents, access or provider-snapped cells. Surf-Forecast's original guide supplies S swell, NNW wind, reef identity and all-stage tide wording. The original contributor atlas describes S/SW swell, lefts/rights, expert-only use and offshore boat/PWC context. Its reef-rocky classification does not survey bottom composition or depth; the separate Bottom field is unknown. Historical tow-only and precise hold-down/height assertions are not current rules, measured thresholds or safety guarantees. S is one shared qualitative reference, not a complete window. NNW versus the atlas's N/NE winds does not establish one numerical optimum: directional wind scoring and opposite-swell fallback remain off. All-stage tide wording is neutral, not equal safety or surveyed depth. Full original atlas text was read in the normal browser after direct fetch failed; duplicate sites are excluded as corroboration. The existing marker remains approximate, not a navigational destination. Generic novice season statistics are not ability evidence.

Character

01

Elbow Ledge is defined by lefts and rights · offshore ledge over rock reef / ledge · exact depth not surveyed. The shape can change with swell angle, period and the active section, so the live score should always be paired with a visual check from shore.

Best setup

02

S · one published S/SW reference swell, light wind · guide directions unresolved and all stages reported · neutral form the profile baseline. SWELLRADAR retains 0.6–3.0 m as an offshore-model ranking band, not a measured local surf limit or a breaking-wave prediction.

Lineup read

03

This is an expert-only profile, not an advanced-intermediate recommendation. Even experts must assess the active reef, entry and exit locally; smaller model values are not safety clearance. Pay particular attention to remote offshore impacts and prolonged hold-down risk, strong currents and separation from shore, buoys, boat/pwc traffic and rescue dependence. Local signs and advice always take priority.
